Composed of grandly scaled brick terraces and overlooked by the imposing elevation of Belvedere House, North Great George’s Street remains one of the handsomest and most memorable streets in north Dublin’s ever-diminishing Georgian streetscape.
Just around the corner from Parnell Square on Dublin's north side North Great Georges Street is one of Dublin's best preserved and most interesting streets. Like much of north Dublin it went into decline but in recent years renovation has been in progress. The James Joyce Centre, located about half way up on the right, commemorates the life of author James Joyce though he didn't actually live on North Great Georges St.
North Great Georges Street is certainly an impressive street, though many of the houses have been altered and degraded. A few have been demolished and replaced by new facades built in the Georgian style.
